QUESTION:
Nutrients to prevent lead poisoning, 02 May 2006, Western Australia
Dear Sir. I have been reading about Chelation and as health topics interest me I would like to find where I can purchase supplements that will be of benefit in taking toxins out of my system. I am 57 and in quite good health but I am developing osteoarthritis and am looking for ways to help myself, I fast one day a week and do not eat meat, I am contemplating starting eating a small amount of meat as through reading about chelation I have discovered that Lipoic acid mainly comes from beef and organ foods. I would appreciate any advice you could give me on this subject. Thank you Stephen Bates. |

ANSWER: 21 Jul 2006 Dear Stephen, I'm sorry for the late reply. I put 2 links below regarding the recommended nutrients to reduce lead poisoning. Certainly nutrients (e.g calcium) can affect the absorption of lead. www.nal.usda.gov/wicworks/Sharing_Center/KYlead.pdf (nutrients that can be used to reduce lead poisoning.) www.epa.gov/lead/pubs/nutrition.pdf I hope the information would help.
