QUESTION:
Dumping >3 million tonnes contaminated dredge spoil within Port Phillip Bay, 31 Mar 2005, Victoria Australia I am writing for some advice regarding the potential implications of the dumping of over three million tones of contaminated dredge spoil within Port Phillip Bay as part of the Port Phillip Shipping Channel deepening project. I am a General Practitioner. I, and a number of other GPs are planning to write a public letter outlining our concerns about the public health risks involved. I am looking for a toxicologist who could give me some advice and look at a draft of the letter we have written. With thanks in advance, Jo Samuel-King |

| ANSWER: 31 Mar 2005 Dear Josephine, so sorry for this response coming more than a month after you emailed our totally volunteer service but we've had endless problems with sending and receiving emails - it's all a part of inadequate government funding as you can imagine. I don't know if you still need the letter reviewed but the most relevant expert we have on our honorary Technical Advisory Board is Dr Ian Irvine of Pollution Research, on 0266575124, or at irvinei(AT)ozemail(DOT)com(DOT)au Regards Regards Elizabeth O'Brien, |
