QUESTION:
Containment of lead paint with shrink-wrap plastic.
21 May 2002, Victoria Australia
We are a relatively new company in Australia who specialise in encapsulation and containment with shrink-wrap plastic. We are a new concept in Australia, but have done quite a bit of work in lead abatement in Victoria, NSW and WA. I would be interested in relevant publications and perhaps some exposure to the industry because I believe we are the way of the future in containment. I look forward to hearing back from you. ANSWER:
22 May 2002 Dear Tom, Thank you for your email. Does your company actually carry out the lead paint and asbestos removal or do you work with paint and asbestos removal contractors? If the latter, can you please let me know who you work with and whether the paint removalists among them have a blood lead monitoring program for their workers. I can see how your wraps might protect the environment but it is not obvious how they are good for workers and whether you only work with contractors who are capable of decontaminating inside the wrap. We could supply you with our lists of Australian painters with some lead training if you are looking for paint contractors to work with. Is that what you had in mind? If you actually carry out lead paint removal yourselves, please let me know what kind of vacuum extraction filters you have on your blasting equipment and whether you have done any containment of domestic premises for lead paint removal and whether you can provide clearance testing for lead levels in the soil and dust following domestic lead paint removal. Thanks Elizabeth O'Brien |
