NCC Support for the Lead Advisory Service

The following motion was carried, at the NSW Nature Conservation Council [NCC] Annual Conference, 28-9^th October 2000.

THAT the Nature Conservation Council of NSW lobby the NSW and Commonwealth governments for:

(a) the continued funding of the Lead Advisory Service; and

(b) actions to be taken as appropriate to address the lead issue, including:

1. reviewing the levels of achievements of the targets defined in the NSW Lead Management Action Plan;
2. providing the community with adequate statistics on lead poisoning;
3. acting upon the above findings to effectively eliminate lead poisoning and protect the environment from lead, including the adoption of a ‘cradle to grave’ product management approach on lead.
