My name is Zac Gethin-Damon, I’m the Campaigner for an End to Leaded Petrol at The LEAD Group Inc.

Would you like to be sure that no leaded petrol in the world contains Australian lead? The fact that Australian lead ends up in leaded petrol tarnishes the green credentials of the Australian mining industry.

Lead damages the brain, reduces longevity and increases crime. Leaded petrol has caused more lead exposure for humans than any other use of lead. Leaded petrol is well past its ‘use by date’ but companies that still profit from its production are not volunteering to end the deadly leaded petrol era and put people before profits.

The United Nations aimed to eliminate leaded petrol globally by 2008 yet at the end of 2011 a handful of countries were still using it. The LEAD Group is the only organisation actively engaging with industry to achieve the end of leaded petrol as soon as possible.

Any money raised through this appeal will be directly used for wages, web-publication on the issue, travel and other expenses of meetings associated with coming to agreement with industry in the shortest timeframe possible.
