The LEAD Group Inc. makes an urgent appeal to you for donations to raise funds for the presentation of our unique message  - "approach the company directly and ask them to cease supply"  - at the 9th Global Partnership Meeting of the United Nations’Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles (PCFV) held in Nairobi 24-26 October 2011

The LEAD Group Inc. has been at the forefront of the campaign to rid the world of leaded petrol. The goal is in sight, but six countries still allow its sale and use: Afghanistan, Algeria, Iraq, Myanmar (Burma), Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) and Yemen. The combined population of these six countries is over 194 million, but the entire population of the world will benefit when the deadly leaded petrol era is finally over.

The LEAD Group Inc. attempted to negotiate with Innospec (the company that produces tetraethyl lead, TEL), for an end of the supply of the lead additive for petrol, before the end of 2011. (The company has stated it will end the supply in 2012.)

By making a donation, you will help cover the costs of sending our Campaigner to End Leaded Petrol by the End of 2011 to the Nairobi meeting. Our target is $5000 for airline tickets, accommodation and expenses.

Unfortunately, we were advised on 15 December 2011 that Innospec has refused to negotiate via the mediation offered by the OECD, so instead, we've created a chronology of leaded gasoline history,  a fact sheet  and a sign-on letter to Innospec that we'll forward to Innospec each working day before Christmas 2011.

If donations exceed $5000, this further support will be used to promote our message and applying pressure through other campaign strategies to achieve the outcome."
