QUESTION: Could using Discreet Hair colour restorer be responsible for a metallic sensation in my mouth? 24/01/11 New South Wales, Australia I recently began using Discreet Hair colour restorer. After about five days I developed what I would describe as a metallic sensation in my mouth, I would say it is not unlike inhaling sulphur fumes, it is very unpleasant. I strongly believe that it is the Discreet causing the problem. Can someone enlighten me? |

ANSWER: Jan 25 2011 Dear Margaret, I found a photo online of a box of Restoria Discreet Colour Restoring Cream and it clearly says on the box: "CONTAINS: LEAD ACETATE 5 mg/g" [source: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=120672759041 ] If you want to eliminate lead exposure (and who doesn't?) I would recommend that you stop using the product. If you are concerned that the metallic sensation (taste?) in the mouth is due to the lead exposure from this product, you should also ask the doctor for a blood lead test. I'm happy to comment on what the result means (and suggest further steps if warranted). Yours Sincerely Elizabeth O'Brien |
