QUESTION: Update - amount of work still left to be done, 20 Oct 2005, South Australia

We own a 1905 home - I would like to find out the correct removal method of lead paint? We are getting the fire place mantle dipped and pulling the window out, some of the window will be dipped and the rest my husband usually scrapes.
I am also pregnant and have a 16 month old at home should we move out? I'm also worried because we have had workers go up through the man-hole and had air conditioning ducts put through the house.

Hi,
the answer you sent to Leisl did not answer two of her questions but I don't have time to answer them now 'cos I'm trying to finalise three fact sheets including the royalties one (can you answer the question I asked about that please?) and a media release that should all be web-published and the media release should go out today by email, it being International Lead Poisoning Awareness Day and all. I can't see the usefulness of a blog but the forum seems useful as discussed previously - it's up to David now - you may want to email him again. I don't have time to check the CSIRO site for the leadlighter but we normally just refer people to our own (www.lead.org.au/fs/fs18.html) and a DEH leadlight factsheet (www.environment.gov.au/atmosphere/airquality/publications/stainedglass.html). That's really all I have time for but the royalties (how spent) answers if you have any would be most appreciated. Can you please fix the exclamation mark in your signature: Volunteer Inf! ormation Officer?
Regards
Elizabeth

Subject: Correct method in removing paint
Hi Liesel,
I am including some information concerning the "SAFE" removal of lead based paint. This hyperlink should provide you with the key factors in removing lead based paints.
