QUESTION:
Elite Maintenance Service, 17 Mar 2005, Queensland Australia Hello, I just wanted to thank the lead advisory service for providing advice to me via your 1800 number. I recently learned about the problems of lead in paint, not before I had sanded some of it off my walls! So I was very concerned but the lady who helped me (I am terrible with names, sorry) was great in providing advice and generally calming me down! I have now cleaned up and had my blood leads done, which are fine. So thanks again to the lady who helped me. One comment I might offer is that I called the Elite cleaning service as suggested for carpet cleaning but they didn't seem to know anything about HEPA filters or whether they used them - perhaps they no longer do this. I did follow the advice on your website and found someone who can help under "asbestos removal" in the yellow pages. Thanks again, |

ANSWER: 17 Mar 2005 Dear Sir, Thanks for your feedback and I'm glad to hear all your paint's been cleaned up. The recommendation we make for vacuuming is to use a HEPA filtered vacuum cleaner but the recommendation we make for carpet cleaning is to hire Elite Maintenance Service because they use the most effective carpet cleaning system (as determined in a trial at Port Pirie - the world's largest lead smelter town in South Australia) plus an EDTA-containing detergent for best pickup of lead dust. I was the lady you spoke to so it's wonderful to hear you have a low blood lead level. Regards Elizabeth O'Brien |
