QUESTION:
New environmental standard for all lead projectiles.
23 May 2004, United Kingdom Dear Sir / Madam My company is researching lead remediation. We have been investigating pollution from shotgun lead and other projectile materials. We have learned that most of the pollution emanating from lead shot is because it is technical lead and not pure. We estimate that commercial lead shot contains circa 6-12%w/w lead oxide, which is much more toxic than lead metal. We are presently working and campaigning for a new environmental standard for all projectiles such that pollution is minimised and ideally eliminated altogether. We would very much like to share are research with you if you can provide us with an appropriate contact e-mail. Best regards Dr Peter J. Hurley |

ANSWER: 24 May 2004 Dear Peter, I'd be very interested to hear more about your proposed standard. Please write to me and I would also like your permission to pass on your email to the Lodged Lead Shot & Bullets Support Group (a Yahoo egroup) as your proposed standard will surely reduce lead poisoning for the people who will eventually spend the rest of their lives walking around with the new lead shot or bullets lodged in their body after being shot. Yours Sincerely Elizabeth O'Brien |
