QUESTION: Ceiling dust on ventilation mesh.,03 Aug 2004, Western Australia

Hi, I have a question about ceiling dust I hope I could get some information on. I have a house built in 1970 and it has those ventilation mesh type things in the corners. It doesn't appear black or anything or to be leaking dust but if I poke it with the tip of my finger my finger has black dust on it. Should I be concerned? Thank you for your time.
