QUESTION: I would like to become a painter and I need some experience. 22 Aug 2004, New South Wales Australia

Dear Sirs,
I would like to become a painter and I need some experience. I would be happy to work for free for a painter in order to gain some experience and then to start working on my own. If you can give me some information which can help me to get started, it will be very appreciated.
Waiting your response at your earliest convenience

ANSWER: 22 Aug 2004

Dear Ovi,
I suggest that you ask the Master Painters Association (phone 97462477) to put you in touch with the lead-trained painters in your area. That way, you'll learn how to deal with lead paint safely and you'll understand the importance of getting your blood lead level tested BEFORE you begin work as a painter, and tested again at regular intervals to make sure that you are following lead -safe procedures. Good luck and work safe!
Yours Sincerely
Elizabeth O'Brien, Manager
