QUESTION:
A group similar to The LEAD Group in the U.S.
16 Jul 2004,
District of Columbia USA I was looking at your website and was wondering if you have a sister organization in the United States, or know of a group similar to yours in the U.S. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Sincerely, |

ANSWER: 16 Jul 2004 Dear Madam, Thanks for your interest. The LEAD Group has two main functions - information provision and advocacy In the US, Title X and other landmark lead legislation has ensured that information on lead is mainly provided by government agencies or by government funded community organisations, which abound. Many of these hundreds of people who are paid to work to eliminate lead poisoning in the US belong to the Global Lead Network so if you like, I could put any question you wanted an answer to, to this network and ask them to email you directly or email the Leadnet listserv and I could forward the emails to you. As for the second function, the organisation that runs the Global Lead Network, the Alliance for Healthy Housing (AFHH), formerly AECLP (Alliance to End Childhood Lead Poisoning) is the largest advocacy organisation in the US in relation to lead poisoning.
