ANSWER: 15 Dec 2003 Dear Sridhar, Thank you for the information you have provided so far. The LEAD Group does not have any ore dross or waste because we do not mine or smelt metal - we run the Global Lead Advice and Support Service (GLASS) - an information service on how to prevent lead poisoning and lead contamination. Please submit a case study including location and statistical and financial data on your operations including the blood lead levels of your staff. Our organisation could then web-publish your case study (practical example of your work) for others to find on the internet. This service is run entirely by volunteers. You may also be interested in contacting The National Referral Centre for Lead Poisoning in India (NRCLPI) (Email: nrclpi@leadpoison.net) which is a non-profit joint undertaking of St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences, and The George Foundation (visit www.tgfworld.org), both of Bangalore. NRCLPI carries out the following activities: 1. Provide updated information on all aspects of lead poisoning through its website: www.leadpoison.net. You can become a member and login to make your input. 2. Offer a referral and confirmatory lead testing service for blood samples received at the Centre from anywhere in India. 3. Disseminate relevant information on lead poisoning to government authorities, NGOs, clinicians treating lead poisoned cases and other institutions concerned, and create awareness among the general public through education, documentation and media communication.
