QUESTION: Lead-free electronics articles. 19 Jun 2003,
NSW Australia Hi, I'm in the process of reading 'Local Heroes' - very interesting! As a result I thought you may be interested in the (good news) article I noticed at ... www.todaysengineer.org/May03/green.asp (an IEEE publication). Keep up the good work! Phil |

ANSWER: 19 Jun 2003 Dear Phil, Thanks for your comments and the web-link. I have just sent it to Security Electronics Magazine in Leichhardt to ask if they have or will do a follow-up story on lead-free electronics based on the IEEE article but putting it into an Australian context. You might read other Australian engineering or electronics magazines that you could write to and ask them to do the same thing... The reason you don't see our sign in the window of the Season Cafe anymore is that our government funding was cut back so severely in 2000 that we couldn't afford the rent so have been forced to run this international service from my home in little old Summer Hill! If Bizlink has any money to give or organise for NGOs who are informing industry and the rest of the public about various products and services which reduce lead hazards, then I'd be most grateful if you'd let me know. Our web access is so dilapidated, I couldn't even find a website for NSW Bizlink before my access died. Clearly we need updated hardware and software desperately! I hope you are inspired by the rest of Local Heroes. There are some good people in the field. Thanks again for your nice email. Yours sincerely Elizabeth O'Brien |
