The
much anticipated Lead Poisoning Awareness poster produced by NSW
Health is now available for distribution. [2007 update: the poster is
now out of print but web-published for colour printing at page one of www.lead.org.au/fs/Is_your_child_safe_from_lead.pdf ]
The poster asks the question…..
"Is your child safe from lead?"
Tens of thousands of children in New South Wales [2007 update:
indeed, millions of children in the world] are in danger from exposure
to lead.
They could develop learning disabilities or behaviour problems.
If your child is under four, does he or she…
- Have a brother or sister with an elevated blood lead level?
- Live in, or frequently visit a house built before 1970,
particularly one that is being renovated?
- Live with a person who works with lead?
- Live near an industry that uses lead products?
- Eat soil, paint or other non-food items?
Did you answer YES? Ask your doctor to give your child a blood lead
test.

The Global Lead Advice and Support Service (GLASS) aims
to distribute this poster as far and wide as possible to raise
awareness about lead poisoning and the risks to children.
Please call GLASS on 02 9716 0132 for more information and go
to www.lead.org.au/fs/Is_your_child_safe_from_lead.pdf to
print copies. The second page is new and includes all the good reasons
why adults should also ask their doctor for a blood lead test at every
"medical" and at least at 5 yearly intervals throughout
life.
