I am most pleased to have been given permission by Rick Nevin to reprint his amazing research into the relationship between lead and violent crime and unwed pregnancy in the United States last century.

From now on, every time a violent crime is perpetrated, I want to hear someone calling for a blood lead test on the perpetrator, or a urine chelation challenge test if the exposure was from childhood. I'd also like to see law enforcement agencies worldwide, get behind the push to prevent lead poisoning (by phasing out leaded petrol and abating other remaining lead contamination / leaded products), as a way of preventing crime.

Literally all the energy of myself, The LEAD Group Committee and all our wonderful volunteers has been forced into fund-raising efforts to save the Lead Advisory Service Australia. There is no good news to date, just negative responses from Shell, Pasminco and Mount Isa Mines (MIM). Most recently, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have determined that our proposed Global Lead Advice and Support Service (GLASS) falls outside the scope of their current focus on Child Health.
