Professor Mark P Taylor - Professor Mark P Taylor Environmental Science, Faculty of Science, Macquarie University. Main area of research, teaching and consulting interest is in environmental health - both natural and urban systems. Professor Taylor's active research interests include environmental metal exposures, sources and pathways, risks and treatment of related problems. Mark has significant experience of sampling, testing for environmental lead in natural systems (river sediments and water, soils, dust, air etc) as well as in human environments (houses and gardens). Mark has written numerous articles covering environmental lead and other metals and their associated risks. He has also worked on toxic cases in a range of Australian mining and urban locations relating to lead (and other metal) exposure. He also has worked as Commissioner of the NSW Land and Environment Court and has a well-developed working knowledge of environmental legislation and policy.

Elizabeth O'Brien Elizabeth O’Brien heads up a small Australia-based NGO (The LEAD Group Inc.) that devotes most of its shoestring resources to providing information and advice about the prevention and management of lead poisoning to concerned citizens from across the globe.

Michelle Calvert local government. Michelle was a Councillor on Ashfield Council, and advised Ashfield and other councils and organisations about lead problems, from her own personal experience.

Robin Mosman, met on a number of occasions with residents, representatives of two local environment groups, staff of the Lake Macquarie Remediation Centre; the director of the Hunter Public Health Unit (PHU); and the EPA, regularly attending meetings of the Lake Macquarie Environmental Health Liaison Committee. Rosemary Ayoub Rosemary's son Jack was lead poisoned during renovations of their home which included Jack being exposed to ceiling dust. He appeared in an article in the local paper. Rosemary joined The LEAD Group's Committee in early 1999 and the Technical Advisory Board in 2000 as she is an early childhood educator with TAFE who has worked very hard to raise awareness about lead. Similarly, Rosemary has worked hard to raise lead awareness among councillors and staff at Botany Bay Council. Rosemary joined The LEAD Group's Council Lead Project (CLP) Steering Committee enthusiastically, in time for the start of the Project in February 2001. She has since had 3 more children and had to live with the threat of ongoing lead exposure due to renovations of old houses in her area. She continues to lobby Council to further develop and enforce safe lead management practices."

King Abdulaziz University Hospital Dr. Fatma Zahrani  Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia who is involved in research on lead levels and poisoning among Saudi children. Clement's work in lead exposure research is centered around the chronic exosure of children to low levels of lead. Working with the research team that includes Professor Sridhar - Professor of Environmental Health, Professor Agbede of Civil Engineering, Architect E. O Adebamowo and others, Clement is studying the amount of lead in the domestic environment and the impact of this on the neurobehavioral characteristics of children. Isla MacGregor works with the Toxic Heavy Metals Taskforce Tasmania and the Tasmanian Public and Environmental Health Network as a Researcher and Advocate. Her key areas of interest are in policy development in Mining, Contaminated Sites and human and environmental health risk assessment.

Jamie Wood is a Senior Environmental Scientist and Company Director of Environmental Health Services (Tas) Pty Ltd, a trading name of Sustainable Environmental Assessment and Management (SEAM). He holds 3 degrees including a Master of Environmental Studies from the University of Tasmania. His thesis was an Environmental Examination of sediments in Lindisfarne Bay, Hobart Tasmania. This work involved looking at heavy metal concentrations (Pb, Cd, Zn and Cu) in sediments and the implications to the marine environment from any dredging. He was mentored by the late Professor Harry Bloom, the man best known for blowing the whistle on heavy metals contamination of the Derwent Estuary from the zinc smelter.
In 2009, Jamie presented workshops across Australia for EnHealth on their guidelines and standards. One significant issue involved lead in the environment and a number of case studies of lead poisoning were presented and discussed at the 14 workshops in each state and territory.
He currently contracts services to a number of local Councils on a range of environmental health issues.

Monash University Dr Gavin Mudd is a Senior Lecturer and Course Director for Environmental Engineering at Monash University. His research focuses on the sustainability of modern mining - examining aspects such as trends in economic mineral resources, declining ore grades, increasing mine waste (tailings plus waste rock), pollution releases from mining, acid mine drainage, mine rehabilitation and corporate governance and sustainability reporting. Gavin is always happy to help locals and communities address the environmental aspects of mining and he has provided loads of info on Australian lead mining and exploration to The LEAD Group!
